The veteran team begins its journey in the second edition of the Gulf Cup for veteran players today, Friday, facing Oman in Doha, Qatar, where the tournament runs from October 30 to November 5 with eight participating teams. The team aims for a strong start and to secure points in the opening match to boost its chances of competing for the top spot in Group A, which includes Oman, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, under the guidance of coach Shaker Mahmoud who relies on the experience of his players and their ability to decide the opening match. The tournament features teams from Iraq, Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, the UAE, and Yemen, divided into two groups, with Group B including Qatar, Bahrain, the UAE, and Yemen. The veteran team seeks to defend its title after winning the first edition held in Kuwait early last year.
