US Charge d'Affaires: Washington Ready to Cooperate with Iraq to Overcome Financial Challenges

Joshua Harris, the US Charge d'Affaires in Baghdad, announced on Wednesday that Washington is ready to cooperate with Iraq to overcome its financial challenges. The Ministry of Finance stated that Minister Faleh Sari received Harris to discuss economic cooperation and strengthening partnerships with American financial institutions. Minister Sari affirmed the Iraqi government's economic agenda is a top priority. He noted the coming phase would feature fundamental economic and financial reforms addressing current challenges, executed in coordination with state bodies and international partners. He also revealed a government initiative to transition to program-based budgeting, moving from traditional methods. This aims to boost spending efficiency, link financial allocations to goals and outcomes, and align with financial and administrative reform needs. For his part, the US Charge d'Affaires reiterated his country's support for Iraq's new government and readiness to boost cooperation to surmount economic and financial hurdles, fostering a more stable and prosperous future for Iraq.
