The US Central Command announced the start of a comprehensive naval blockade on Iran later today, a move marking new regional tensions. A Command spokesperson clarified that work is ongoing to finalize details and coordinate the blockade's re-imposition. The spokesperson confirmed implementation begins today, with specific timing to be announced. This follows US President Donald Trump's earlier declaration to re-impose the blockade on Tehran, revealing a plan to make the US "guardian of the strategic Strait of Hormuz." Trump, on 'Truth Social', said the blockade targets only Iranian ships or agents from passage, while other nations will have fair access. He added Washington intends to seek compensation from shipments through Hormuz.
