US Central Command Announces Erbil Base Withdrawal Completion, Shift to Bilateral Defense Ties with Baghdad

US Central Command announced Wednesday the completion of its forces' organized withdrawal from Erbil Air Base. In a statement, the Command clarified this withdrawal from Iraq aligns with a planned transition towards a bilateral defense relationship between the United States and Iraq. It added that the Combined Joint Task Force remains operational, based in Jordan. US forces continue their fight against ISIS in Syria, alongside coalition partners and the Syrian government.
