United States to Host Inaugural Women's Club World Cup
The International Football Federation announced the selection of the United States as the host for the inaugural Women's Club World Cup. The tournament will feature 16 teams representing six continental federations, aiming to boost the presence of women's football at the club level globally. According to the tournament format, 13 teams will qualify directly for the group stage, while three others will compete in a playoff qualifying phase, with participants determined based on club performances in major continental competitions from 2024 to 2027. The federation stated that the choice of the United States was based on the advanced infrastructure and services, as well as the significant interest in women's football in the country. The decision was made during the federation's council meeting held in Zurich on October 15. The tournament is planned to become a regular event held every four years, following the initial announcement of its launch plans in 2025.
