UAE Mourns Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Dubai Orders 10 Days of Mourning

The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, mourned the passing of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, brother of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Sheikh Ahmed passed away Monday morning. On "X", the President extended his deepest condolences to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and the esteemed Al Maktoum family. He praised the deceased's enduring legacies and national contributions, noting they "will remain present in memory and witness to a journey full of giving." He prayed for his soul's rest and his family's patience. Separately, the Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, also mourned his brother. He posted a heartfelt message on "X", stating: "May God have mercy on you, my brother. You have come to a generous and great Lord. You are absent from our eyes but not from our prayers and hearts, Ahmed." He offered prayers for his brother's mercy and for strength for his family and loved ones. The Diwan of the Ruler of Dubai subsequently announced official mourning and the lowering of flags across the emirate for ten days, effective Monday.
