Trump Sparks Debate Over Daily Aspirin Use for Psychological Need
Donald Trump has reignited debate regarding his daily aspirin intake, reiterating that he consumes a tablet regularly despite admitting he does not know if it is genuinely beneficial. Speaking at a campaign rally in Vandalia, Ohio, on Saturday evening, Trump told attendees that he takes an aspirin pill each day. He acknowledged being unsure of its medical effectiveness, yet stated he needs it psychologically because it significantly thins the blood, noting he has maintained this habit for a long time. These comments recall previous statements Trump made in January to The Wall Street Journal, where he revealed taking a daily dose exceeding physicians' recommendations. At the time, he explained he wanted to avoid having "heavy" blood and ensure smoother circulation toward his heart, mentioning he has taken aspirin for approximately 25 years. Earlier this year, Trump also linked a visible bruise on his left hand to his high aspirin usage. He explained the bruise surfaced after bumping into a table, noting that his daily medication makes him bruise far more easily. Meanwhile, Trump’s physician, Sean Barbabella, stated that the president consumes a daily dose of 325 milligrams of aspirin to prevent cardiovascular diseases.
