US President Donald Trump confirmed that the administration has decided to immediately begin transferring cash amounts close to one hundred dollars, specifically ninety dollars, to reach more than twenty million elderly American citizens. In a post via the Truth Social platform late Friday night, Trump clarified that these allocations go to beneficiaries to support them in covering Medicare Part B premium payments. For its part, the White House issued a statement on Friday explaining that the distribution of these funds begins at the beginning of October, as they are deposited directly into the bank accounts of those eligible or sent via mail. Trump drew attention to the fact that these funds originate from the "Medicare Improvement Fund," a federal financial fund established in 2008 legislatively with the aim of developing health care services for the elderly and disabled groups. With this step, the Trump administration sets a precedent as the first administration to utilize this fund in providing direct financial payments, directing accusations at the Democratic Party of previously exploiting it to finance waste and inflate health care costs in favor of lobby groups. Trump completed his criticisms, holding his predecessor Joe Biden responsible for the arrival of the Medicare and Social Security systems to the brink of collapse as a result of allowing huge numbers of undocumented immigrants to enter. He confirmed in the context of his speech that these cash payments are completely separate from the refund amounts directed to one million citizens who paid additional costs within the Affordable Care Act during the previous administration. He also renewed the emphasis on his commitment to distributing the amount of five thousand dollars known as "Trump distributions" to every American citizen upon the Republican Party achieving victory in the midterm elections. These financial pledges coincide with the approach of the midterm congressional elections scheduled to be held in November 2026, amid the administration promoting the step as a living achievement, while the Democratic opposition considers it an attempt to woo voters.
