Trump highly enriched uranium must be delivered immediately to us for destruction or ruined locally with Iran

US President Donald Trump announced that the highly enriched uranium present in Iran will either be delivered immediately to the United States for destruction, or it will be ruined in its place in cooperation with Iran.

Trump said in a post on the "Truth Social" platform: "The enriched uranium (nuclear dust!) must either be delivered immediately to the United States to be brought home and destroyed, or, preferably, in tandem and coordination with the Islamic Republic of Iran, destroyed in its place or at another acceptable location, with the Atomic Energy Agency, or its equivalent, certifying this process and event."

These statements come at a time of escalating indirect negotiations between the United States and Iran, mediated by Pakistan, to reach an agreement on the Iranian nuclear program and put an end to the ongoing war since February 28, 2026.

For its part, Israel continues to pressure Washington for stricter conditions in any agreement with Iran, amid concerns that the agreement would weaken economic and military pressure on Tehran and restrict Israel's freedom of movement against the Lebanese Hezbollah.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had previously pointed to "some good indicators" in the negotiations, but warned that the fee system planned by Iran for crossing the Strait of Hormuz would render any diplomatic agreement "unachievable."

It is worth noting that the war between the United States, Israel, and Iran began on February 28, 2026, and both sides announced a ceasefire on April 8, with the US blockade on Iranian ports continuing.
