Tehran: Hormuz Transit Fees in Rial and Plan to Limit Ship Traffic

Iranian official Hamid Reza Hajibabaei announced transit fees in the Strait of Hormuz must be paid in Iranian rial.

He said the decision is based on a law prepared by parliament.

He added around 250 lawmakers supported the plan.

He noted the strait carries 20% of global oil and 35% of gas.

He said the route is fully under Iranian control.

He stressed it is non-negotiable under any conditions.

He referenced warnings given to Donald Trump about Iran’s strength.

He claimed Iran stands among major global powers.

He said oil exports exceeded 1.6 million barrels per day.

He added Iranian oil is now more resilient to sanctions.

Meanwhile, Trump threatened a naval blockade.

Iran may allow only 10 ships daily with fees up to $2 million.
