Taiwan received its first two US-made F-16V fighter jets on Friday as the democratic island seeks to enhance its military capabilities to deter a potential Chinese attack. A reporter confirmed that the jets landed at a Taiwan Air Force base in Taitung on the island's southeastern coast at noon (04:00 GMT). China considers Taiwan part of its territory and has threatened to use force to seize it, while Beijing strongly opposes US arms sales to the island.
