Syrian Airlines Receives First Two Airbus A320 Aircraft as Part of Fleet Modernization Plan

Syrian Airlines has received its first two Airbus A320 aircraft, as part of a program to enhance operational capacity and expand its flight network. These two aircraft are among eight planned Airbus family deliveries. They fulfill commitments within the Damascus International Airport development project with Urbacon Holding, which includes modernizing the national carrier's fleet. Officially registered in the Syrian National Aircraft Register as YK-AKI and YK-AKJ, each aircraft features 156 seats: 12 business class and 144 economy class. Their selection from the global market followed an evaluation of technical condition, maintenance records, and operational history, ensuring service readiness. They previously operated in Europe under regulatory frameworks adhering to approved European safety and airworthiness standards. Prior to delivery, both underwent comprehensive inspection, maintenance, and technical evaluation by specialized Syrian engineers/technicians and two international firms. This covered technical records, operational history, and safety/airworthiness compliance. Aircraft YK-AKI has arrived at Damascus International Airport, ready to enter service with the national carrier. YK-AKJ proceeded to a specialized center for painting and new visual identity application; its official unveiling is set for its arrival in Syria soon.
