Specialized Committees Formed for Million Housing Plot Initiative Land Identification and Distribution Controls

The Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Public Municipalities announced today, Saturday, the formation of specialized committees tasked with identifying land sites within the governmental initiative aimed at providing one million residential plots. This initiative seeks to distribute these lands to eligible beneficiaries across all governorates, with a focus on establishing precise controls and criteria for the distribution process. A spokesperson for the ministry stated that the Supreme Coordination Authority among Governorates has established working teams in all governorates. Their mission is to inventory and identify suitable lands for the residential plot distribution project. The spokesperson also noted that work is underway to develop an electronic platform specifically for receiving citizen applications, which will be launched upon the completion of all necessary procedures. These teams operate across all governorates, with each team led by a Deputy Governor and including members from municipal directorates, urban planning, real estate registration, representatives from state properties, and the agricultural land department. The core task of these teams is to precisely locate lands that can be utilized within the initiative. The spokesperson added that these teams are continuing their efforts, and the identified lands will be reported to the sub-committee, which is part of the main team, within the next three months. Furthermore, another sub-committee, chaired by the head of the Consultants Authority, is responsible for preparing the specific criteria and controls for the land distribution mechanism. This committee also aims to create a comprehensive database to identify citizens who do not own a housing unit, thereby ensuring fairness and inclusion for the most deserving categories in this national project. The spokesperson affirmed that the subsequent phase will involve launching the electronic platform, which will enable citizens to apply for land plots once they are fully prepared. This committee includes the Director of the Digital Transformation Center, representatives from the Ministries of Interior and Justice (Real Estate Registration Department), and the Ministry of Planning (Statistics and Geographical Information Systems Authority), alongside the Baghdad Municipality and a representative from each governorate.
