Senior Iranian Official Denies Plot to Assassinate Trump's Son, Calls Claims Propaganda

Iran's National Security Chief denied reports that his country was planning to assassinate Barron, the youngest son of former US President Donald Trump, describing these allegations as "fabricated propaganda." Mohsen Rezaei clarified in a televised statement on Thursday that these were "big lies used by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to manipulate Trump," according to Iranian media outlets. He further added: "Had we decided [to assassinate him], nothing would have stopped us." This comes after Iranian media published content threatening Trump and his family, following the assassination of Iran's former Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, and several members of his family at the outset of conflict against Iran in late February. A video, approximately three minutes long, broadcast by the Iranian state broadcaster (IRIB), featured an English phrase: "Where to kill Barron Trump?!" The video also included illustrative graphics of publicly known locations frequented by Trump's son, such as "Trump Tower" in New York. In response, the US Secret Service confirmed its awareness of the video aired by official Iranian media, which appeared to contain a threat to Barron Trump's life. Secret Service spokesperson Nate Herring stated that "the US Secret Service is monitoring the video and investigating any potential threat to the individuals it protects." Herring added: "For operational security reasons, we do not discuss protective intelligence."
