Scaloni Commits to Coaching Argentina Through 2030
The head coach of Argentina's national team, Lionel Scaloni, has made his final decision regarding his continuation as the team's manager following Lionel Messi's international retirement. Scaloni, 48 years old, currently holds a contract with the Argentine Football Association until the end of 2026 and has been considering a renewal offer recently. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed on platform "X" that Scaloni has agreed to sign a new contract extending his tenure through the 2030 World Cup. The offer presented in September was accepted, and final details are currently being finalized before the official signing. Scaloni's approval was also confirmed by journalist CL Merlo. Since taking charge in 2018, Scaloni achieved numerous successes alongside Messi, the team's captain who has retired from international play, including winning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Besides the World Cup, under his leadership, the team secured two Copa América titles in 2021 and 2024, as well as the 2022 Finalissima trophy.
