Saudi Foreign Ministry Clarifies: Defense Pact with Pakistan and Turkey Poses No Threat to Regional Security

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that its defense agreement with Pakistan and Turkey poses no threat to the security of any nation in the region, nor does it aim to escalate tensions between states. A Saudi Foreign Ministry Undersecretary clarified that the pact does not represent a move towards forming a military axis or a sectarian bloc. Instead, he emphasized, it focuses on enhancing the Kingdom's defensive capabilities. He added that the agreement is not linked to nuclear ambitions or an arms race, but targets building sustainable self-defense capabilities, stressing it does not negatively impact the Kingdom's regional and international relations.
