Russia and China Block UN Security Council Discussion on Iran Nuclear File

Both Russia and China exercised their veto power in the UN Security Council, thereby opposing a resolution to bring the Iranian nuclear file up for discussion. This occurred during a session held by the Security Council today, Friday, to address this sensitive issue. In this context, the United States' representative to the Council accused the two nations of obstructing the progress of discussions on the Iranian nuclear dossier. For its part, the United Nations called on all concerned parties to work towards a constructive solution to this matter. Meanwhile, the French representative to the Security Council demanded that Iran ensure the unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, halt its efforts to destabilize the region, and end its support for armed groups.
