Former US President Donald Trump, according to a media report, threatened to "heavily bomb Oman" if it obstructed any United States activities in the strategic Strait of Hormuz. These remarks were conveyed by reporter Trey Yingst following an interview he conducted with Trump. Yingst stated that Trump responded explicitly when asked about his reaction if Oman interfered with US operations in the Strait, saying: "If Oman stands in our way, we will heavily bomb it." It is worth noting that Washington and Tehran had previously signed a memorandum of understanding on June 18 regarding freedom of navigation in the Strait; however, its implementation faced setbacks due to security disagreements.
