QatarEnergy Extends Force Majeure, Leases Gas Tankers Until Mid-October

QatarEnergy has extended force majeure on liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies for Asian buyers and will lease some of its tankers until mid-October. The company previously canceled shipments to clients in Asia and Europe during August and September. Any further extension is expected to intensify market pressure, as Europe and Asia compete for limited supplies ahead of the winter season. Notably, before current conflicts, about one-fifth of global LNG trade passed through the Strait of Hormuz, making the market more sensitive to supply disruptions from the region.
