Prime Minister Emphasizes "Major Battle Against Corruption," Directs Activation of Informant Reward Law

Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi has directed the activation of the law rewarding informants on corruption cases, emphasizing its crucial role in the extensive battle against corruption. This directive followed a visit by Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi on Saturday to the Federal Commission of Integrity's headquarters, where he met its head and senior staff, reviewing its operational mechanisms and efforts to combat corruption and protect public funds. Al-Zaidi stated that the Commission of Integrity is an edifice measured not by its structure, but by its balance, reflecting honesty and safeguarding public wealth. He underscored that "the battle against corruption is significant," positioning the commission as the primary line of defense. He urged the commission to broaden its role beyond oversight to include prevention, stressing the imperative to permanently dismantle corruption systems and oversee provincial projects, mirroring the scrutiny applied to ministerial projects. Furthermore, he instructed the monitoring of projects across three levels—high-cost, medium, and small—proportionate to their size and expense, to ensure more effective oversight. His directives also encompassed enforcing the informant reward law, strengthening border control, exposing corrupt individuals, and submitting monthly and quarterly reports on anti-corruption progress and achievements. In response, the commission's head expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister's backing, confirming that field teams established to audit state institution contracts have completed checks for eight ministries, with ongoing work for others. He also highlighted the finalization of the National Strategy for Integrity and Anti-Corruption, spanning until 2030, reaffirming the commission's commitment to fighting corruption and protecting public funds.
