Prime Minister Directs Oil Companies to Operate 24/7 for Continuous Production and Export

Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi on Monday directed oil companies to operate continuously 24 hours a day, to ensure the sustainability of production and export operations and enhance their rates. This came during an expanded meeting of the Ministry of Oil chaired by Al-Zaidi, attended by the Ministers of Finance and Oil, the Director of the Prime Minister's Office, in addition to undersecretaries and general managers of various departments and formations of the Ministry. The meeting reviewed the Ministry's plans and strategies for dealing with the repercussions of the Strait of Hormuz crisis, and proposed solutions to ensure the smooth flow of Iraqi oil exports and increase its export capabilities. Attendees also discussed the reality of the oil sector and levels of production and export amidst the exceptional regional circumstances that led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and a significant decline in export rates. Policies, plans, and solutions were discussed to address the crisis's repercussions, ensure the continuity of exports, and enhance alternative outlets. Al-Zaidi emphasized the importance of accelerating practical solutions, through the rehabilitation and development of oil pipelines, and contracting with international companies for the marketing and sale of crude oil. He commended the significant efforts exerted by the Ministry of Oil during this phase, reiterating his directive to oil companies to work around the clock to ensure the continuity of production and export and increase their rates. The Prime Minister called for investing the current circumstances to transform the crisis into an opportunity for success, by developing oil infrastructure and expanding export outlets. He noted that the Ministry of Oil possesses numerous solutions and opportunities that can be urgently pursued to achieve quick and tangible results.
