Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi directed today, Thursday, that each province undertake the establishment of a new modern city, with an area ranging between 10,000 and 15,000 dunams. A statement issued by the Prime Minister's Media Office mentioned that Al-Zaidi met earlier today with the heads of investment commissions in all provinces. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Finance, the Director of the Prime Minister's Office, the Governor of the Central Bank, the Head of the Supreme Coordination Authority for Provinces, and the Head of the National Investment Commission. During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of adopting an innovative vision for investment and urban development. This vision focuses on establishing integrated modern cities in all provinces, with the aim of expanding investment activity, achieving balanced and sustainable development, and creating new urban environments capable of accommodating demographic and economic growth. Al-Zaidi's directive included an emphasis that each province would be responsible for establishing a new modern city within the specified area, taking into account the uniqueness of each province, its history, heritage, and spatial characteristics in the design, and that each city would bear the name of its respective province. His Excellency also directed that investment loans be granted to investment commissions in the provinces for the construction of infrastructure for the new cities, to ensure the provision of integrated basic services. He stressed that these cities should form urban development poles and a qualitative addition to the provinces, providing an attractive environment for residents, investment, and economic and service activities. In a related context, the Prime Minister issued a directive to form a specialized committee to urgently study the project and set appropriate implementation mechanisms. He also requested that investment commissions in the provinces submit an integrated vision for the project within a maximum period of one week, including the necessary conceptions, proposals, and requirements to commence implementation. Finally, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Finance to facilitate the procedures for surveying and allocating the necessary lands for the establishment of the new cities, to ensure acceleration in completing project requirements and commencing implementation operations.
