Prime Minister Affirms Drawing Inspiration from Imam Hussein's Principles Against Corruption
Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaydi affirmed on Thursday that the government draws inspiration from the uprising of Imam Hussein (PBUH) the principle of not appeasing the corrupt. In a speech delivered on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (PBUH), Al-Zaydi extended condolences to the Iraqi people, the Islamic nation, and all free people around the world on this solemn occasion. Al-Zaydi described this anniversary as "a testament to sacrifice, victory, and heroism" whose principles Imam Hussein embodied and whose pride he led in Karbala, serving as an Imam, a symbol, and a reformer. The Prime Minister added that this great occasion inspires the meanings of Ashura, driving the continuation of national responsibilities for the elevation and sovereignty of Iraq, and honoring the legacy of the martyrs and sacrificers who confronted and defeated terrorism in various circumstances. Addressing the Iraqis, Al-Zaydi emphasized: "We have learned from the uprising of Imam Hussein (PBUH) not to compromise with any corrupt individual, and to strive with all patience and determination to protect Iraq and reform its system as far as we can; so that we may preserve its wealth and civilization for future generations, and safeguard their right to a dignified life." He pointed out that the school of the Master of Martyrs, his household, and companions (PBUH) has proven, throughout all ages, that principles do not waver due to the multitude and cunning of the corrupt, and that faith in the eternal Muhammadan message, carried by noble men, will not see its banner broken. Al-Zaydi concluded his speech by asserting that Iraq will remain proud and honorable with its people, as long as the voice of Hussein is present in the conscience, inspiring values of dignity, justice, and humanity. Peace be upon Hussein, upon Ali bin Hussein, upon the children of Hussein, and upon the companions of Hussein, and the mercy and blessings of Allah.
