President Stresses Need to Continue Anti-Corruption Fight During Khazali Meeting
Iraqi President Nizar Amedi affirmed on Sunday, during his meeting with Sheikh Qais al-Khazali, Secretary-General of Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq movement in Baghdad, the necessity of continuing efforts to combat corruption. A statement from the Presidency's office indicated the meeting reviewed key national developments, with the President emphasizing tackling current challenges responsibly and cooperatively. Amedi further stressed enhancing state institutions' capacity to implement programs, fulfill citizens' aspirations, and meet future requirements. He also reiterated the call for sustained efforts to eliminate corruption by supporting supervisory and judicial bodies, and activating measures to safeguard public funds, fostering integrity and transparency. Discussions also covered regional and international developments, underscoring the importance of dialogue and de-escalation for crisis resolution, thereby bolstering regional security and stability, and protecting Iraq's higher interests.
