Planning: Electricity Tops Government Priorities in 2027 Budget

The Ministry of Planning has revealed a serious government directive to position the electricity sector at the forefront of service and financial priorities within the 2027 budget. Mohamed Mohsen Al-Sayed, Director General of Regional and Local Development at the Ministry, explained that the government has established a clear strategy to advance the electricity sector in the coming year. He indicated that the plan includes installing modern digital and smart meters in homes, enabling highly accurate measurement of the electricity supplied to citizens. Al-Sayed clarified that these technical and regulatory procedures were designed with social dimensions in mind. These measures aim to ensure sufficient and accessible electricity for low-income families, while simultaneously guaranteeing the fair collection of energy consumption fees from high-income families, thereby achieving equitable distribution and rationalizing consumption. The Director General affirmed that the electricity sector will serve as the primary focus of government work in the coming years, directly contributing to enhancing system stability and improving supply efficiency across all governorates.
