Parliament Elects Nizar Amidi as President

The Iraqi Parliament announced on Saturday the election of Nizar Mohammed Saeed Amidi as President of Iraq after securing 227 votes during the parliamentary session.

According to the official statement, the second candidate Muthanna Amin Nader received 15 votes, while seven ballots were declared invalid.

The election comes as part of completing constitutional requirements, amid expectations of forming a new government and addressing the country’s political and economic challenges.
