Paris Saint Germain star misses crucial Barcelona clash

Sports. Paris Saint Germain faces a major setback ahead of the highly anticipated match against Barcelona, following the confirmed absence of Portuguese left back Nuno Mendes from the upcoming European showdown between the two clubs next Tuesday in the Champions League. A brief official statement released by the Parisian club on Sunday revealed that medical tests proved Mendes suffered a left thigh injury during the match against Strasbourg in the domestic league last Saturday. The club confirmed that the Portuguese defender will be sidelined for several weeks, without specifying an exact recovery timeline. This injury comes as the Parisian squad prepares intensely for the upcoming European summit against Barcelona. Both teams are performing exceptionally well domestically, with Barcelona leading the Spanish League with a perfect twenty seven points from nine victories following a five two win over Real Betis. In contrast, Paris Saint Germain enters the fixture high on confidence after securing a three one comeback victory over Strasbourg, cementing its joint lead in the French League with fourteen points alongside Monaco and Lille after seven matchdays. On the continental front, both sides aim to maintain their flawless records, as the French champions started their campaign strongly by defeating Slovan Bratislava and overcoming Manchester City. Meanwhile, the Catalan club displayed impressive attacking performances by beating Feyenoord and Galatasaray.
