The Ministry of Oil announced details regarding the suspension of Iraqi crude oil supplies to Jordan, affirming that the matter stems from technical factors involving crude specifications and operational requirements of Jordanian facilities. Ministry spokesman Salim al-Rikabi stated that the interruption of exports is entirely due to technical obstacles related to shipment grades and the processing capacity of refineries in Jordan. Al-Rikabi explained that Jordanian refining plants previously received Kirkuk light crude, which fits their operational setup, noting that necessary volumes of this specific grade are currently unavailable. The spokesman added that Baghdad offered the Jordanian side an alternative option to receive Basra Medium crude instead, but Amman clarified that operating its domestic refining units with this specific type remains technically unfeasible.
