Oil Ministry Announces Plan to Expand Tanker Fleet

The Ministry of Oil announced on Monday that the Iraqi tanker fleet currently includes six medium and small tankers, with plans to acquire larger tankers to enhance maritime capabilities. Spokesperson Salim Al-Rikabi explained that there is a move to establish partnership contracts with specialized and reputable companies in maritime transport to develop the national tanker fleet. He added that chartering tankers from other companies is done for crude oil storage or transporting it outside maritime straits, reflecting a flexible strategy for managing maritime transport operations.
