Oil Minister Highlights U.S. Companies' Role in Iraq's Energy Sector Leap

Oil Minister Basim Mohammed Khudeir affirmed that the presence and operations of American companies in Iraq represent a significant qualitative leap for developing the nation's oil and gas industry. Khudeir indicated that the upcoming phase would see an acceleration in the implementation of projects within this vital sector. According to the official agency, Khudeir clarified that the ministry's goal is to secure essential gas supplies and fully eliminate gas flaring. The ministry also aims to diversify Iraq's oil export routes. He added that his recent visit to the United States, accompanying the Prime Minister, led to signing several agreements to back these strategic objectives. The minister stated that the inclusion of American companies among those operating in Iraq is a major advancement for the oil and gas sector, owing to their advanced technology and vast expertise. This can be utilized for knowledge transfer and enhancing sector capabilities. Khudeir reported that the coming days would bring rapid momentum in project completion. He cited government directives, spearheaded by Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaydi, stressing the need for direct dialogue with companies to shorten timelines and accelerate work, ultimately aiming for 24-hour project execution. He revealed that the Ministry of Oil would soon organize a conference with participating companies to focus on mechanisms for more efficient and rapid project delivery. He confirmed the ministry's commitment to coordinating with various ministries to overcome any obstacles, ensuring companies can execute their projects within the defined schedules.
