Notable jump in precious metal prices in Baghdad amid rising US currency
Iraqi and foreign gold prices witnessed a clear increase during Wednesday's trading in local markets of the capital, Baghdad, affected by the rise in US dollar exchange rates. Data from wholesale markets in Al-Nahr Street showed that the selling price of one mithqal of 21-karat Gulf, Turkish, and European gold settled at 978,000 dinars, while the buying price recorded 974,000 dinars, marking an increase compared to Tuesday when it reached 930,000 dinars. In the same context, the selling price of one mithqal of 21-karat Iraqi gold reached 948,000 dinars and the buying price reached 944,000 dinars. At jewelry shops, the selling price of a mithqal of 21-karat Gulf gold ranged between 980,000 and 990,000 dinars, while the local gold ranged between 950,000 and 960,000 dinars.
