North Korea announced on Wednesday that it has ordered its border forces to respond swiftly and decisively to any threats from southern forces, heightening the risk of increased tensions along the border between the two countries. This escalation follows Seoul's declaration to firmly punish any further provocations by Pyongyang, responding to North Korea's threats to bolster its military presence along the border. North Korean leadership, represented by Marshal Pak Jong-chon, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, conducted an inspection of border fortifications accompanied by Kim Yo-jong, sister of leader Kim Jong-un. Reports indicated that Kim Yo-jong confirmed that new military units have already taken positions along the border line, reflecting a tightening military stance in the area.
