National Security Advisor Emphasizes Iraq's Security, Discusses Strengthening UK Ties

National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Aboudi affirmed that Iraq's security and stability are a top governmental priority, emphasizing the prohibition of using Iraqi territory for aggression against other nations. This came during his reception today, Thursday, of the British Ambassador to Iraq, Irfan Siddiq, to discuss ways to develop and enhance bilateral relations between the two friendly countries. A statement issued by the National Security Advisory stated that the meeting addressed means of serving common interests, with Al-Aboudi stressing Iraq's commitment to building strategic and balanced relations. He noted that strengthening economic and commercial cooperation contributes to solidifying political partnerships and expanding horizons of cooperation. The two sides also discussed the recent meeting between Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi and the UK Prime Minister in New York, and its positive reflection on the course of bilateral relations, opening new avenues for joint cooperation. Al-Aboudi reiterated the government's priority in maintaining the country's security and stability, and preventing the use of its territory for any aggressions, in line with Iraq's policy based on respecting state sovereignty and enhancing regional security and stability. Regarding internal security matters, Al-Aboudi referred to the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to specialists on the necessity of preparing integrated programs for training, armament, and restructuring, with the aim of developing the capabilities of military and security forces and enhancing their readiness. For his part, British Ambassador Irfan Siddiq affirmed the UK government's support for the Iraqi government's program, expressing his country's readiness to strengthen cooperation in various fields, especially in information exchange, economic, and investment cooperation.
