The Presidency of the Parliament decided to refer MP Youssef Al-Kilabi to the Parliamentary Ethics Committee following his misconduct against the head of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition and the former Prime Minister, aimed at gaining personal media advantages that harmed the state and its institutions. This decision was based on an official document highlighting these violations, with the parliamentary presidency approving the referral of Al-Kilabi to the Ethics Committee, which led the Reconstruction and Development Bloc to end its boycott of parliamentary sessions. Earlier, the Reconstruction and Development Bloc announced the suspension of its attendance at parliamentary sessions in protest against the violations and insults targeting the coalition and its leadership. The bloc stated that some MPs persist in irresponsible behaviors that deviate from parliamentary work principles and political competition rules, constituting malicious defamation campaigns and systematic targeting of the coalition and its leadership. The bloc added that it had sought to rise above retaliation and emphasize wisdom and dialogue, submitting an official memorandum demanding the referral of the concerned MP to the Ethics Committee, but the lack of practical measures encouraged continued insults. It indicated that this situation requires the parliamentary leadership to take a firm and responsible stance to put an end to these practices. The bloc confirmed suspending its attendance at sessions and will not resume participation until legal procedures are applied to stop violations, preserve the dignity of parliamentary work, and respect political forces and their leaders. It stressed that maintaining political stability and fair competition is not merely an option but a moral and legal commitment the bloc will defend by all available legal means. The bloc concluded by calling on the parliament to dedicate its time and efforts to serving the people amid significant political, economic, and security challenges instead of engaging in disputes that threaten political and social stability.
