Ministry of Oil, JGC Japan Sign Agreement to Enhance Gasoline, Gas Oil, LPG Production

The Ministry of Oil announced on Friday the signing of an agreement with Japan's JGC to enhance its production capacities of gasoline, gas oil, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). A ministry statement clarified that "the ministerial negotiating committee, formed under the guidance of Oil Minister Basim Mohammed Khudair Al-Abadi and chaired by Ministry Advisor Hamed Younes, with South Refineries Company Director General Hussam Hussein Wali as a member, successfully reached a deal with JGC Japan, operator of the FCC catalytic cracking project, to resume project work on August 10, 2026." The statement added that "JGC has already begun transferring its personnel to the project site and initiating operational activities and necessary preparations for the units, aiming to complete and operate the project at its full design capacity." This project is expected to contribute an additional daily production of 5 million liters of gasoline, approximately 7 million liters of gas oil, and 400 tons of LPG.
