The Ministry of Electricity announced Saturday that current electricity generation reached approximately 22,000 megawatts. The ministry affirmed that provincial shares are calculated and distributed via a precise, transparent mechanism. This system relies on net generation after deducting exceptions like government hospitals, water stations, losses, operational loads, and auxiliary equipment, all based on percentages approved by the Higher Committee for Coordination Between Provinces. The ministry clarified that Basra Governorate receives its calculated share from the Higher Committee according to its designated percentage. The remaining power is then distributed among other provinces to ensure equitable supply and grid stability. The ministry further indicated that total percentages for provinces, excluding Basra, based on factors adopted by the Committee, amounted to 100%, distributed as follows: Baghdad (27.07%), Dhi Qar (9.02%), Nineveh (8.47%), Babil (5.94%), Karbala (5.77%), Najaf (5.64%), Anbar (5.49%), Saladin (5.12%), Diyala (5.04%), Maysan (5.02%), Wasit (4.99%), Kirkuk (5.21%), Diwaniyah (4.00%), and Muthanna (3.24%).
