Masrour Barzani Urges Baghdad to Take Decisive Action Against Armed Groups

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani strongly condemned attacks targeting the U.S. consulate and civilian areas in Erbil, describing them as serious and unacceptable.

In a post on X, he said armed groups are carrying out attacks that pose a direct threat to the security of the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the wider region.

He added that targeting diplomatic missions and civilian areas reflects a dangerous escalation.

Barzani urged the federal government in Baghdad to take immediate and effective action against unlawful armed groups.

He stressed the need to use all available means to stop the attacks and hold those responsible accountable.

He warned that continued violence threatens overall stability and requires decisive action.
