A United States Department of State official confirmed that talks between Lebanon and Israel remain ongoing, facilitated by Washington. The official indicated that both delegations are set to resume their meetings tomorrow, Tuesday, with the aim of continuing efforts to reach a comprehensive agreement between the two sides. In statements made on Monday, the official reiterated the US commitment to facilitating these negotiations. The source added that the parties are scheduled to reconvene tomorrow morning, Tuesday, at 9 AM Eastern Time, to advance the discussions towards concluding an agreement. Concurrently, Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Rajeh emphasized that his government's top priority is to ensure a complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territories. During a phone call with his Cypriot counterpart, Constantinos Kombos, Rajeh stressed the importance of deploying the Lebanese army in border areas to affirm the state's sovereignty over its entire land. He also noted that the government is proceeding with its plan to confine weapons to the state, considering it a fundamental pillar for implementing security understandings and enhancing stability.
