Kingdom Condemns Houthi Attacks on 4 Saudi Cities, 73 Civilians Injured

Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the Houthi militia's targeting of civilian and economic facilities in the cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran. These attacks resulted in injuries to 73 civilians, including women and children. Riyadh affirmed its right to take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty and the security of its citizens and residents within its territories. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that these aggressions coincided with the Houthis' continued targeting of commercial ships in the Red Sea, thereby threatening international maritime navigation freedom. Riyadh emphasized it would not tolerate any assault on its land and capabilities, asserting its legitimate right to adopt essential measures to safeguard its national assets and maintain the safety and security of both citizens and residents, in accordance with international law. The Kingdom reiterated its rejection of the hostile approach adopted by the Houthi militia in threatening the security and stability of Yemen and its Arab and Islamic surroundings, noting their persistent refusal of peace efforts. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia warned against the continued targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure, demanding an immediate halt to all forms of escalation and ongoing threats to maritime security. The Kingdom called upon the international community to fulfill its responsibilities and implement relevant UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolutions 2216 of 2015 and 2722 of 2024.
