Parliamentary efforts are heading towards focusing on including the Popular Mobilization, budget, and dual citizenship laws on the upcoming agenda, and completing the steps for their enactment before the legislative recess begins. The head of the parliamentary finance committee, Uday Awad, explained in press statements that the budget and Popular Mobilization draft laws top the council's interests to follow them up after the completion of the government formation, pointing out the resumption of parliamentary meetings during the coming week. Awad confirmed that the Mobilization and dual citizenship legislations head the legislative program of the upcoming sessions, amid continuous endeavors to include the budget within the list of priorities. On the other hand, MP Hamed Abbas indicated in press statements that the draft law of the Popular Mobilization reached parliament containing more than seventeen clauses, after merging the legislations of service, retirement, and organizational structure into a single text to simplify discussions and accelerate voting. He mentioned that the draft has undergone amendments and deletions of some terms, stressing the concerned committees' pursuit to balance the proposal received from the authority with government amendments to reach a consensual formula that ensures the quick enactment of the law. Abbas stressed the existence of an urgent necessity to legislate the law given its role in organizing the conditions of service, retirement, and administrative structure of the authority and guaranteeing the rights of its workers in a way that achieves the public interest. He added that the executive and legislative authorities are serious about completing the legislation of the law while providing sufficient space to discuss its articles and amend them during the stages of parliamentary work leading to the final vote. Abbas concluded by stressing that the Mobilization law represents a binding priority alongside the budget law, highlighting the council presidency's keenness to put them and read them before the legislative recess and complete all necessary steps to accomplish them.
