The Supreme Judicial Council has announced a significant increase in the total funds seized in the corruption case involving Adnan al-Jumaili, the former Deputy Minister of Oil for Refineries Affairs. The recovered amounts now exceed 98 billion Iraqi dinars and 11 million US dollars. An investigative judge from the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court clarified that recent developments in the case led to the arrest of Raed al-Jubouri, the former Governor of Salah al-Din and current Director of Health in the province. This arrest was made based on confessions provided by al-Jumaili during his intensive interrogation. The judge further stated that investigations are ongoing with precision to track and recover financial proceeds resulting from waste and mismanagement in projects executed by the accused and other involved parties. In this context, additional cash amounts exceeding 67 billion dinars and 1 million dollars were recently seized. The judge revealed that part of these funds was hidden in the homes of several individuals, while another portion was discovered buried four meters underground and extracted using specialized excavation machinery. Consequently, the total financial amounts seized in the case have now surpassed the aforementioned figures.
