Iraq's Government Revenues Surpass 45 Trillion Dinars by August 2026
The General Authority for Monitoring the Allocation of Federal Revenues announced that Iraq's government revenues reached approximately 45.355 trillion dinars by the end of August 2026, with 77% of these revenues derived from oil. The authority's chairperson stated that the 2027 budget is still under preparation and has not been finalized, with ongoing amendments and discussions. It was emphasized that the authority's role in reviewing the criteria for distributing federal resources is essential to ensure fairness, transparency, and the soundness of decisions related to public fund allocation, in accordance with Article 106 of the Iraqi Constitution. The authority relies on constitutional and legal foundations, particularly Article 106 of the Constitution and Authority Law No. 55 of 2017, to guarantee transparency and justice in resource allocation. The oversight focuses on verifying the accuracy of financial data, tracking revenues from entitlement to deposit in the general treasury, as well as monitoring financial deviations and enhancing proactive control. According to Ministry of Finance data up to August 31, 2026, oil revenues amounted to 34.726 trillion dinars (77%), and non-oil revenues reached 10.629 trillion dinars (23%). Total expenditures were about 78.9 trillion dinars, including 75.8 trillion dinars in current spending and 3.1 trillion dinars in investment expenditures, resulting in a deficit of approximately 33.6 trillion dinars between revenues and expenditures.
