Iraqi PM Al-Zaidi Receives German Visit Invitation
Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi received an official invitation to visit Germany, following a phone conversation held today, Wednesday, with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. During the call, both sides discussed strengthening bilateral ties and their development across various sectors, notably economic, commercial, and investment, along with cooperation on migration issues. Al-Zaidi expressed Iraq's aspiration to broaden its economic scope and attract German investments, highlighting the government's initiative to establish a joint Iraqi-German fund for financing industrial development. He also affirmed his government's resolve to combat corruption and cultivate a promising investment climate to diversify economic sources, acknowledging Germany's crucial and enduring economic partnership with Iraq. Chancellor Merz confirmed Germany's commitment to enhancing cooperation with Iraq in all sectors, extending an official invitation for Al-Zaidi to visit. He reiterated support for Iraq's economic and financial reforms, noting German companies' readiness to invest.
