Iraqi Parliament Speaker Condemns Attacks on Saudi Arabia, Rejects Use of Territory to Threaten Neighbors

The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Hebat al-Halbousi, on Saturday condemned the attacks targeting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, affirming his absolute rejection of using Iraqi territory or airspace to threaten Riyadh's security or any of the neighboring countries. Halbousi emphasized that such actions are "rejected and condemned" and do not align with Iraq's national policy, interests, and its relations with sisterly and neighboring states. He also underscored the importance of adhering to the principle of confining weapons to the state and its constitutional institutions, under the command of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. This aims to strengthen the country's sovereignty, preserve its security and stability, and prevent Iraq from being drawn into regional conflicts. Furthermore, he expressed support for the government's measures, particularly initiating an urgent investigation to identify and legally pursue the parties involved in these attacks. Al-Halbousi also praised the government's efforts in containing the current situation and maintaining fraternal relations with Saudi Arabia, to safeguard Iraq's interests and spare the country and the region further escalation.
