Iraqi, Jordanian Foreign Ministers Review Aqaba Oil Pipeline Project and Enhance Energy Supply to Baghdad

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi discussed on Wednesday the proposed project for an oil pipeline to Aqaba port and mechanisms for supplying Iraq with electricity. The discussion occurred on the sidelines of a ministerial meeting on Jerusalem, held in Amman, where Hussein met Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates. During their meeting, both officials stressed the importance of continued development of bilateral relations and reviewed arrangements for the anticipated visit of Mr. Safadi and Jordan's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources to Baghdad, aiming to enhance joint cooperation across various sectors. Minister Hussein also reviewed the outcomes of Prime Minister Ali Al-Zeidi's visit to Washington and addressed recent developments in Iraq, particularly the government's policy to confine arms to the state. The talks further covered ongoing regional efforts and potential understandings to reopen the Strait of Hormuz for maritime navigation, alongside emphasizing continued coordination and joint action within the Arab League and other regional frameworks, to serve mutual interests and bolster regional security and stability.
