Iraqi Airways to Resume Flights to Iran Next October from Najaf Al-Ashraf Airport

Iraqi Airways announced on Tuesday its intention to resume flights to and from the Islamic Republic of Iran next October, with operations set to commence from Najaf Al-Ashraf International Airport. A statement issued by the company indicated that this decision reflects the government's continuous commitment to fostering bilateral communication and ensuring air transport links between the two nations. The statement highlighted that diligent efforts, direct guidance from Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, and close monitoring by Transport Minister Wahab Al-Hasani successfully secured a special exemption. This exemption permits Iraqi Airways to operate its flights to Iran. The staff of Iraqi Airways General Company are working rapidly to prepare aircraft and finalize all requirements related to flight organization. These measures precede the launch of flights next month, following the completion of the necessary regulatory requirements for departures from Najaf Al-Ashraf Airport. This development follows the suspension of flights by Iranian airlines to Iraq since September 23. Iraqi Airways had previously halted its flights to the Islamic Republic of Iran since early March, as a precautionary measure taken amidst military escalation at the time, to ensure the safety of flights and passengers. The company affirmed that the resumption of flights would occur only after the completion of all necessary regulatory and technical requirements, thereby guaranteeing operations adhere to approved regulations and standards.
