Iraq Launches Basra-Haditha Pipeline Project with 56-inch Diameter to Diversify Export Outlets via Syria, Turkey, and Jordan in 2026

 In May 2026, the Ministry of Oil commenced the 700km Basra-Haditha pipeline project, designed to transport 2.5 million bpd toward Syria, Turkey, and Jordan. Spokesman Sahib Bazoun noted that the $1.5 billion project utilizes locally manufactured 56-inch pipes. Additionally, Iraq is finalizing tests to resume exports via the Kirkuk-Ceyhan line at 600,000 bpd, providing critical 2026 alternatives to the Strait of Hormuz and bolstering national economic resilience and global energy security.
