Iraq, Kuwait Announce Team to Resolve Outstanding Files

Iraq and Kuwait announced today, Friday, in a joint statement, the formation of a bilateral working team tasked with reviewing pending files between the two countries and developing a roadmap for their resolution. This agreement stems from the outcomes of a meeting between Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zeidi and Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The agreement reflects the keenness of the two brotherly nations to enhance bilateral relations and address outstanding issues in a spirit of brotherhood, good neighborliness, and common interests. The statement stipulates the formation of a joint Iraqi-Kuwaiti working team. Its mission is to review the pending files, develop a roadmap for their resolution, and submit its joint recommendations to the leaderships of both countries within a period not exceeding thirty days. The team's meetings will be held alternately in Baghdad and Kuwait on a continuous basis until its tasks are completed. Both sides affirmed their full support for the team's work and their commitment to completing its mission, aiming to close outstanding files and usher in a new phase of cooperation and partnership between the two brotherly countries, serving the interests of both the Iraqi and Kuwaiti peoples.
