Iraq Excluded from Most Affected Countries Despite Oil Losses
As the US-Israeli war with Iran enters its fourth week, global economic pressures are rising due to disruptions in energy supplies, raising concerns over inflation and slowing growth.
A recent report highlighted impacts on major economies such as Germany, Italy, the UK, and Japan, as well as emerging markets like India, Turkey, and Gulf countries, in addition to fragile economies including Egypt, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan.
Despite these developments, Iraq was not listed among the most affected countries, even though it has been directly impacted. Oil production dropped from 4.3 million barrels per day to 1.3 million, while exports fell below 800,000 barrels per day, resulting in daily losses of around $128 million.
These developments stem from the war that began on February 28, 2026, which severely disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
