Iraq condemns Riyadh airport strike and calls for halting military operations
The Iraqi government strongly condemned on Sunday the attack targeting King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, which resulted in casualties alongside material and human losses. In an official statement, the spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sabah al-Numan, stated that the strike undermines regional security and stability. He reiterated Baghdad's rejection of escalating military and hostile actions, particularly those targeting civilians and civilian facilities. Iraq urged a comprehensive halt to all military operations to shield civilians and brotherly nations from repercussions and prevent infrastructure damage. The statement reaffirmed Iraq's support for dialogue as an alternative to armed violence, emphasizing shared interests, navigation and aviation safety, and regional economic development.
